Corrigans Farm show on TV continues to promote the benefits of Allotment gardening. His allotments are geared more towards "Community gardening" than to the traditional lone allotmenteer. There is something positive to be said in favour of both. Some of our people prefer the Lone allotment idea, which is fine. We have an ideal group of people lined up to take on allotments in this area. They have the most important attribute in abundance - Enthusiasm. From there we could make progress on all other issues.
So far, the people we have spoken to have been polite, and helpful to a point. In any new project which seeks to upset the status quo there is a barrier, a suspicion of the unknown, in peoples minds.
It remains to be seen if we can make progress over time - change will come about as perceptions change. Time !!!
We have been unsuccessful in getting the plot at the old St Carthages Hospital.
Before I give up completely on this project, let me put a different slant on the same thing.
A Growers Network it sounds good, but how many others will feel the same?
Send me an e-mail if you are interested.
